A village in Eastern Nigeria

Welcome to Eastern Nigeria. Eastern Nigeria sits on the Gulf of Guinea. The Benue River forms the North border of this region. The Niger Delta is rich in oil. Igbo (ee-boo) is the largest ethnic group in Eastern Nigeria. Most Igbo are Christian.  The houses in cities are made out of mud bricks and have metal roofs. In swampy areas, the houses are built on stilts. They also wear colorful clothing. The Igbo's main economic activity is oil. Foreign oil companies run Nigeria's oil industry. Many of the Nigerian lawyers, doctors and teachers are from the Igbo ethic group.
